The 2013 World Youth Day (WYD) Pilgrimage to Uruguay and Brazil: This two week pilgrimage (approx. 16-30 July) will start with a week in Uruguay, a hidden gem squeezed in between the huge expanse of Argentina and Brazil. Its capital, Montevideo, is located on the coast of the Atlantic. This alluring coastline is one of the most beautiful on the continent. During this week we plan to be hosted by a parish community for four days and to experience a bit of Uruguay’s vibrant gaucho culture; this South American cowboy culture is a deep-rooted tradition that defines Uruguay. From Uruguay, we will travel the final leg of our journey to WYD in Rio de Janeiro and to the pinnacle of the pilgrimage, the WYD Vigil and Mass with millions of people from around the world and of course, the Pope.

This is truly an adventure and experience of fellowship, encounter, faith, and our universal Church.
